about

OTTER FILMS started operating in 2009. We are a production company based in Warsaw, focused on creative documentaries and arthouse films for cinema and TV, with an emphasis on the international market. The owner of the company, Anna Wydra has a unique experience in development, production as well as promotion and distribution of difficult and original projects. We take part in workshops, pitchings and markets because we believe that intensive project development, coproduction and international distribution are the foundations of international success.

Otter Films is a creative team of people devoted to good stories, artistic qualities and professional handling of our projects at all stages of their production. We are constantly developing to line with the best practices of film production. We are convinced that openness to all ideas combined with their careful evaluation and a focus on international markets will help us reach our goal - worldwide audience for our films and international recognition of our projects.

We are very proud that we can work on projects with such great filmmakers as Jolanta Dylewska, Andrzej Wajda, Agnieszka Holland - we are currently in production with their documentary essay AND THERE WAS LOVE IN THE GHETTO -, Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski(currently in production with ART OF DISAPPEARING), and Sergey Dvortsevoy whose new feature AYKA we are co-producing together with Kinodvor (Russia) and Pallas Film (Germany).

ANNA WYDRA producer

The Otter of it all

She studied at the Warsaw School of Economics but decided to more in life than walking through it in a suit. She started her film adventure as a production assistant, but very quick it turned out, that she's up to more. She made numerous successful films as a production manager. Finally she reached her big hit - she produced "Rabbit a la Berlin" and won an Oscar Nomination. Her first Oscar is still waiting for her to reach it and she surely will but the Best Producer Prize of the Cracow Film Festival is already hers. Anna never stops in putting her vision into life and keeps learning from people she meets at international industry events. If you don't know her yet, it will surely change. Soon.

ANNA KUCHTA production coordinator

She took cultural studies at Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities. She has a long experience with our Otter and she's an expert on little daily impossibilities. She coordinates all things that are officially uncoordinated and therefore she is probably the most irreparable person. Sorry, Otter.

COOPERATION: BARTEK KONOPKA director, artistic supervisor

It may seem that Bartek is our favorite director, and it might be true - we keep working together - even after the long Rabbit adventure. No wonder, his Oscar nomination is not the best thing about him.

Bartek Konopka is one of the most awarded Polish directors and was nominated for an Academy Award for the documentary RABBIT A LA BERLIN which was shown at more than 70 festivals, received a dozen prizes and has been sold to 40 countries.

FEAR OF FALLING (90', 2011), his feature fiction debut, premiered at Montreal and received several
international awards, (including awards at Mannheim, Mumbai, Lecce, Vincennes and the Best Debut Award at the Polish Film Festival). The film was released in cinemas in Poland, France, Spain, and Iran.

Bartek is a graduate in Film Studies from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and in Film Directing from the Silesia University in Katowice. He also graduated from the Documentary and Fiction courses at the Wajda School. He has worked as a journalist and made TV documentaries for many years.
Bartek is a member of the Council of the Polish Film Institute.
